A special thank you to Creality who kindly sent me this Falcon 2 Pro to feature on my UA-cam channel. I have created this "First Impressions" video to cover all the different features of the machine and give my honest opinion as to whether I would recommend this product. I tried my best to approach this video as a "show and tell". I guide you along with me as I discover the features and discover what this machine is capable of. To me, this is the most authentic approach I could take, while also providing me the oppourunity to educate those who may be new to lasers.
I have broken this video up into different sections, all of which I have timestamped below. I hope this video is successful in helping you make a better informed decision as to whether this product is the right fit for you. I will follow up this review in 6 months to add any further comments if necessary. If you have any further questions, please leave a comment down below and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

    Why does the set up need 2 power supplies, could your big one not run the motors and the board or am I missing something?

    • @thehardwareguy
      @thehardwareguy 2 дні тому

      Hey man thanks for your question. In my case, the power supply for the NEMA's is 36V, they take an input between 18-48V. The breakout board requires 24V. You could share the power supply at 24V but I would recommend a minimum of 36V to drive NEMA 23's

    I was able to get the rotary working on my Falcon 2 pro, but I had to do some messing about with magnets to trick the safety so I could remove the drawer bottom. I also had to add some extension legs (borrowed from another machine) to raise it up a bit. Best I can tell, the rotary is actually designed for the older non-pro version that doesn't have the enclosure and safety features.

    • @thehardwareguy

      Thanks for the input! Yes I think you're right, I would agree that the rotary tool seems designed to be used with the regular Falcon 2.

    Nicely done. I appreciate seeing the whole process, as you’ve shown. For people getting started, often it is the little things, like getting the proper collet into the collet nut, that are important to learn. I’m pretty new at this myself, but I’ve started to use the work surface as Z0, so that if you remove material from the top, you can still find proper Z after changing tools, etc. I would love to see a detailed walkthrough of a double-sided job, and how you can ensure you are getting X, Z, and Z set properly for the second operation.

    I was wandering should the horn of (steering) servo lean toward the back of vehicle, so it would match the lean on bell crank arm/horn? In other words the bell cranks horn is not in 90 degree angle and there fore neighter should the servo horn be in 90 degree angle. This is just a thougth. I am wondering the stearing geometry of my RC car Rustler and I was baffled why the servo horn is not at 90 degree angle to the stearing linkage. It seems to adapt the deviation on bell crank arm/horn. Edit/PS: Try to get hands on picture of chassis assemply of Traxxas Rustler 4x4 and front assemply. I think that is the best way to try visualise what I am talking about.

    probably not going to matter for your use case, but i see that the seam affects deformation quite a lot, i would guess that staggering the seam in a spiral (like the carboard tube of paper rolls) would spread that uneven derformation.

There’s 3 different colors and I thought I would have to tape off (and there’s going to have to be lots of pieces which is going to take so long) parts but I see you used multiple colors and we’re still precise with the colors and didn’t mask off anything with tape. So about that, are these brushes precise enough, could I get away like you did without tape easily?

    I sure hope you can help me. I'm making some mods to the Prusa firmware. For part of it I want to send text out through the TX pin on the J19 connector (and also make use of the RX pin eventually). In the Prusa firmware there's one object called MarlinSerial (or MSerial) but that appears to communicate via the USB port on the Prusa. I've found info (from ChatGPT) about using the TX/RX pins on the J19 connector but, frankly, it's all quite confusing and appears to require a lot of mods to many .h and .cpp files of the firmware. It refers, for example, to things like SERIAL_PORT_2 in the firmware, but it's not actually there. Do you have, or can refer me to anyone with, knowledge of how to do this, what I need to add or modify so that I can make use of the TX/RX pins on the J19 and have some object in the firmware to control it?

    At 603k views, I do not think YOU have need for a thank you from me as much as I have a need to say "thank you" to you. I have spent the past couple hours getting thru your 22 minute vid, repeating each step, playing with the controls as we went. This is how I learn best, by doing. I have tried to learn CAD packages in the past, always failing. While I still clearly have a very long way to go, I think I am "over the hump" now. While I may well be a slow learner, I found playing the vid at 75% speed made it much more digestible. Thank you again.😄
